China: Releases New Guidelines for Digital and Green Transformation

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), along with various national bodies including the National Development and Reform Commission, several Ministries, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Data Bureau, released the "Implementation Guidelines for the Coordinated Transformation and Development of Digital Greening.", which was announced on 24 August 2024.

The guidelines lay out the basic principles for integrating digital and green initiatives, focusing on innovation, coordination, open cooperation, and achieving practical results. They emphasize two main objectives: promoting green, low-carbon growth in digital industries and accelerating the green transformation of other sectors through digital technologies.

The guidelines call on local governments, industry associations, universities, research institutes, and enterprises to lead these efforts. The implementation guideline are officially available in Chinese - here
